Microsoft Clarity Consent Mode: native support in My Agile Privacy®
If you use Microsoft Clarity to understand how users behave on your site, this is something you need to know.
This is not an optional change. This is not something you can put off.
Compromised session replays. Limited heatmaps. Incomplete funnels.
The problem: without valid consent, Clarity runs at half capacity
Clarity Consent Mode works like a switch. When a user arrives on your site from a region covered by GDPR (EEA, UK, Switzerland), Clarity waits. It sets no cookies. It tracks no behaviour. It records no sessions. It waits for an explicit signal confirming: this user has given consent.
If that signal never arrives, or arrives in the wrong format, Clarity keeps running — but in an extremely limited mode.
And this applies to every single European visitor who lands on your site. We're talking about hundreds, thousands of potentially lost sessions, depending on the traffic you handle.
What you're losing, and why it's a bigger problem than you think
Clarity is not Google Analytics. It doesn't tell you how many visitors you had or where they came from. Clarity shows you what those users actually do: where they click, where they get stuck, where they leave, what they really read and what they ignore.
Without session replays, you can no longer see recordings of user sessions. You can no longer watch how a visitor navigates your site, where they hesitate, where they get confused, where they abandon their cart or contact form. You lose the ability to understand the "why" behind the numbers.
Without complete heatmaps, you no longer know where users focus their attention. Is that section you highlighted actually being seen? Is that button visible enough? Do users scroll to the bottom of the page or stop halfway? Without complete data, every design decision becomes a gamble.
Without reliable funnels, you lose the ability to map conversion paths. How many users reach the product page? How many add to cart? How many complete the purchase? If the data is incomplete, you can't identify where most users drop off — and therefore you don't know where to step in and improve.
In practice, you keep running a website without truly understanding how people use it. And when you don't understand user behaviour, optimising the user experience becomes impossible.
The solution: My Agile Privacy® handles everything automatically
If you're using My Agile Privacy®, you don't need to build anything from scratch. Support for Microsoft Clarity Consent Mode is already built into the plugin, just like Google Consent Mode v2 and Microsoft UET Consent Mode.
When a user interacts with the consent banner managed by My Agile Privacy®, the plugin automatically communicates their choice to all supported platforms. Clarity receives the signal in the correct format, at the right time, without you having to write a single line of code or manually configure any API.
If the user accepts, Clarity runs at full capacity: active session replays, complete heatmaps, tracked funnels. If the user declines, Clarity stays in limited mode, respecting the user's choice and keeping the site GDPR-compliant. If the user changes their mind later, My Agile Privacy® automatically updates the signal and Clarity adjusts accordingly.
Everything handled transparently, with no manual intervention.
How to enable Clarity Consent Mode
Before enabling Consent Mode, make sure the Clarity script is already installed and active on your site.
- Log in to your WordPress admin panel.
- Find the option "Enable Microsoft Clarity" in the Privacy Settings → Consent panel and turn it on.
- Save the settings.
From that moment on, My Agile Privacy® will automatically communicate each user's choice to Clarity every time they visit the site or update their preferences in the banner.
How to verify that Clarity Consent Mode is active
Consent Mode V2 Inspector (recommended)
The fastest way to verify everything is working is Consent Mode V2 Inspector, the free Google Chrome extension developed by My Agile Privacy®. It monitors Google Consent Mode v2, Microsoft UET and Microsoft Clarity in real time within a single interface, updating with every change the user makes to their preferences in the banner.
The extension collects no data: all monitoring happens locally in the browser.

Why My Agile Privacy® makes the difference
The market is full of consent management solutions. But most of them require complex configurations, manual integrations, and constant updates every time Microsoft changes its technical specifications.
With My Agile Privacy®, all of that disappears. The plugin updates when regulations change. It natively supports the main analytics and advertising platforms. And when new requirements emerge, the integration arrives directly with the plugin update — without you having to monitor official communications, check whether your implementation is still valid, or worry that a Clarity update will break something.
My Agile Privacy® takes care of everything.
Check now whether you're covered
If you're using Clarity without a correctly implemented consent mode, you're already losing data. Every day that passes without a solution is a day of incomplete analytics, missing session replays, and lost optimisation opportunities.
Lost data doesn't come back. Unrecorded sessions cannot be recovered. But from now on, you can make sure that every visitor who arrives on your site is tracked correctly, with full respect for their privacy and the full power of Clarity.
